About The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place is a hybrid local game store and 30-tap bar on East Rosemary Street in downtown Chapel Hill. Opened in 2022, it combines a large 3,600 sq ft playspace and a free-to-use board game library with a deep selection of Magic singles, modern TCGs, and miniatures. Weekly events span Modern, Commander leagues, Flesh and Blood, Pokémon, One Piece, Sorcery, Riftbound, D&D one-shots, board game nights, and mini paint nights. They also host occasional shows, including comedy, themed trivia, and sometimes karaoke, adding a social nightlife angle to the game scene.
